With A Little Care, A Quality Extension Cord Will Last For Many Years.
If you take the time to break one in properly, you can get a lifetime of easy coiling, non-tangling performance from your cable.
Try these tips!
When you first get the cable, completely uncoil it and let it lie out in the sun for a few hours. The exposure to sunlight will allow the cable to warm up and relax the rubber in the cable jacket. When you first get the cable, completely uncoil it and let it lie out in the sun for a few hours. Suspend the cable from both ends so that the cable is lifted above the floor. This gentle stretching of the jacket and conductors will lead to easier coiling later.
Always coil your cable with an underhand/overhand motion that doesn’t go against the twisting of the copper conductors.
Use a cable wrap or a piece of tie line to secure the ends of the cable into a coil.
Never tie knotsĀ in extension cords.
